Why Do People Discriminate Against Looks?

For my third blog on this topic I wanted to make it something really personal. Not very factual but something that I can relate too. When i chose this topic I thought that I was mainly going to base it on a women's point of view, but as i gathered more and more information, I found out that both men and women feel the same way. Everyone in America is judged on something at one point in their life. Wether its your hair, your nose, your figure, etc. It all equally hurts. You can relate this topic to many other topics such as bullying, and etc. but this is mainly on how people feel when they are being judged/ ridiculed. That feeling you feel inside is something that you probably never want to feel again. Also at one point in your life you know that you are going to be the person judging another person, but you just have to remember that feeling you get when you are that person being judged and how you never like to feel that feeling so why make someone else feel it. You may say that there are many reasons but no one deserves that type of humiliation.

Interveiws:

Cora Grohowski       1. What do you think a typical person in America looks like today?
Women- blonde, blue eyes, pale skin, tall, skinny.
  Man- tall, muscular, fit, Caucasian
2. Why do you think people thrive to look like that?
So they can be like other people, so they are not frowned upon.
  3. Why do you think not looking like the typical beauty could effect your chance in getting a job, getting married, etc.
It depends on what kind of job your getting, if you are getting a job where you are speaking in the public then they would probably want you to look a certain way. Because some people would like their spouses to look a certain way.
 4. Do you think most people today are disappointed with their appearances?        Yes, because most of society is fat, and  not great looking.  It is hard to find a job today so lots of people are working hard and not having time to take care of themselves and eat healthy.
 5. Do you think today society is too stereotypical?
Yes, people look a certain way to fit in, in the area that they live in.
Ex. Bronxville, most people in Bronxville all dress a certain way .

1. What do you think a typical person in America looks like today?
Women- blonde, blue eyes, pale skin, tall , skinny. Ex. Pamela Anderson
Man- republican like, classic, 2 different types men vs. boys. Pale skin, tall conservative, stern.
2.  Why do you think people thrive to look like that?
Because they see it in the media, but as America it is not a country filled with one type of person." We are a mix." We have all different types of people.
   3. Why do you think not looking like the typical American Beauty can effect the type of job you get, and who you marry?
I don't think it effects the type of job you get. It matters what is inside your brain. At a real type of job it doesn't matter what you look like it matters what is  inside your brain. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You can be a beautiful girl and be intop someone that is not that great looking.
 4. Do you think most people today are disappointed with their appearances?
No, I believe girls that wear makeup are disappointed with their appearances. When people wear makeup it is a way to enhance your beauty. When you put on make up you are covering up what you don't want people to see.
 5. Do you think today society is stereotypical?
I think everyone is stereotypical, but I think beauty is changing. Being the classic is beautiful, but I think that being brown or red hair. I think that Rihanna is pretty, but I also think Miranda Cur is pretty. She is not blonde but she is still married to someone who is extremely good looking ( Orlando Bloom)
Ex. Bronxville isn't real, it is fake as all can be. If you go 20 minutes away you can see different types of hair, skin color, different styles, here it is one thing. Bronxville everyone looks the same. They act the same. They have the reality of the word that they deserve what they have. There is little appreciation for what they have here. Bronxville is like subarea.

  1.  What do you think the typical beauty in America looks like today?
Women/ Men-  everyone tries to be really pretty, it is deceptive to how people really look, because of all the tv shows and movies etc. in America. They make everyone feel like they have to be pretty. You get the wrong opinion of how people actually look.
  2. Why do you think people thrive to look like that?
In the news, and eve people on tv it makes people feel like they have to look like that to be successful. Even though it is unrealistic
   3.  What do you think being the typical American beauty does to effect they type of job you get, and who you marry?
People definitely hire people who are more attractive of the opposite sex. A ton of people base hiring on look, and others who base it off experience etc. It depends on whose hiring you. It would play a big role because people are taught to marry someone who is beautiful. So that is what most of society would look for.
  4.  Do you think most people today are disappointed with their appearances?
Definitely, a lot of people are, because of all the high standards mostly media sets.
    5. Do you think society today is sterotypical?
          Yes
Ex. In a richer neighborhood people try to wear expensive clothing, and drive expensive cars. A lot of the time people show their wealth through their clothes.
